Life Drawing

I have done life drawing on and off for years. What usually happens is a session will start up somewhere and I’ll join in along with a bunch of other enthusiastic artists with dreams of making skilled beautiful drawings, filling pages with wonderfully accurate images and being artistically fulfilled…
Life drawing is NONE of those things for me.
It’s really hard!
Drawing has never come naturally to me and I really have to work at it to do anything of any substance. These are from a class I attended last year. I used charcoal for the first time and I found it both frustrating and difficult to use. I have thrown 95% of the drawings away in disgust. (When you work in animation you learn very quickly to get rid of drawings that simply do not work, no matter how long they took to create)
But I can be doggedly persistent when I want to be. So I pick up the broken piece of charcoal off the floor, put a new piece of paper on the drawing board, take a deep breath and have another go…
